An Interview with Our President

Our high-spirited, enthusiastic president is from Western Springs, Illinois and is majoring in metallurgical engineering. We sat down with her during a break in her busy week to learn about her thoughts on leadership, her biggest goals, and what keeps her going.

Favorite quote: “Stay humble, hustle hard.”

Biggest role model(s): “ My parents are my biggest role models. My dad is really good at making his employers feel important and loved. My mom is super light-hearted. She gets her stuff done, but she also loves to be goofy and have a good time. She works hard, but she knows when to relax and wind down. And of course Mrs. Fulmer!”

Guiding Principles and Beliefs: “I believe in kindness, compassion, and hard work. I want everyone to feel important and loved. I also think it’s so important that everyone is seen for who they are. There is beauty in our differences, and we should celebrate people’s passions, and strengths.”

What’s the most rewarding part of being a leader? “I get to be invested in people’s lives and their successes; this is something that is really important to me! I love being a part of a team and collaborating! I always say, “If I can’t help you, I can find someone who can. Also I’m able to see the freshmen succeed. (Kay previously served as the 2017 VP New Member Education) This is why I do what I do!”

Biggest goal as president: “It’s so important that everyone feels loved and belonged here. I want everyone to know to come to me, and that they have someone to fall back on – that’s the purpose of sisterhood and an organization like this. I want our chapter to constantly be improving on our practices and our policies. I want Alpha Chi Omega to be a leader here all the time, being change-makers on campus using what we’ve learned for our future lives!”

What motivates you: “My future goals and where I want to be in life! Also how much we can accomplish in our chapter and how we can help other chapters succeed. I want to make sure that everyone can succeed and that everyone has all the tools and resources to do this. I want to always shine a positive light on what our organization does.”

Favorite thing about herself: “I really like that I’m kind of sporadic, very lively and energized at most times of the day. I also like being outspoken and having opinions about a lot of things.”
